Year-End Gratitude and Recognition: Making Every Member Feel Seen

Week 63 · December 7 – December 13, 2026

🎤 Education Moment Script (3–5 minutes)

Good morning, Our BNI Family! 👋

We are deep into December, and I want to talk about something that costs nothing but creates enormous relational value: recognition. Not the formal, podium-style kind — the personal kind. The kind that makes someone feel genuinely seen.

In a season when everyone is running fast, the Members who take a moment to slow down and recognize the people around them build the kind of trust that drives referrals well into next year.

🔹 Why Recognition Is a Referral Strategy

Here is what most Members miss: recognition is not just a nice habit. It is a referral strategy.

When you take time to acknowledge someone’s contribution — a thoughtful referral, a great presentation, consistent follow-through — you reinforce the behavior you want to see more of. You deepen the relationship. And you build the kind of emotional bank account that produces referrals long after the holiday decorations come down.

December is the perfect month to make intentional deposits into those accounts.

🔹 Three Simple Recognition Moves This Week

1. Send one personal thank-you note. Not a text. Not a group message. A real, specific note to someone in your chapter who made a difference to your business this year. Name what they did. Tell them the impact. That message will be remembered long after December ends.

2. Celebrate a Member out loud in the meeting. Before or after your Weekly Presentation, take fifteen seconds to publicly recognize someone in the room. Specific behavior. Specific result. This builds chapter culture in real time and signals that this is a room where contributions matter.

3. Follow up on a referral you received this year. Let the person who gave it know what happened. Even a quick, warm update closes the loop, honors their trust, and positions you for stronger referral flow in Q1.

🔹 A Quick Reminder / Why This Matters

The Members who finish the year with the strongest relationships are usually the ones who gave the most specific, sincere recognition throughout the year. Not because it is a technique — because it reflects who they are.

This week, be that person. Recognize someone. Close a loop. Send a note that means something.

December is short. The impact of real recognition lasts far longer. Let’s keep celebrating each other well. 💙 Spencer Reynolds

In December, the Members who slow down enough to recognize and appreciate the people around them build the kind of trust that drives referrals well into Q1.
