Week 50 · September 7–13, 2026
🎤 Education Moment Script (3–5 minutes)
Good morning, Our BNI Family! 👋
Today I want to talk about the space between a warm lead and closed business.
That space is where referral mastery lives. It is also where a lot of opportunity gets lost, not because Members do not care, but because the handoff is too casual.
🔹 A Name Is Not the Finish Line
A referral is not complete just because a name was entered in BNI Connect. The referral becomes powerful when the person receiving it knows the context, the need, the urgency, and the best next step.
When we pass referrals well, we protect our credibility and increase the odds that the referral becomes real business.
🔹 The Three-Part Handoff
First: qualify the need. Does the person actually have a problem this Member solves, and are they open to a conversation?
Second: pre-frame both sides. Tell the prospect why you are introducing this Member, and tell the Member why this prospect is worth their time.
Third: stay close enough to confirm connection. You do not have to manage the sale, but you should make sure the introduction actually happened.
🔹 Follow-Up Is Part of Givers Gain
The Member receiving the referral has a responsibility too. Follow up quickly. Be professional. Report back. Thank the referring Member whether it closes or not.
That follow-up builds trust inside Our BNI Family. When Members know you handle referrals well, they become more confident referring you again.
🔹 Your Challenge This Week
Before your next referral, send a short pre-frame message to both people. Make the introduction warmer, clearer, and easier to act on.
We do not want to be a room that passes names. We want to be Our BNI Family creating closed business through thoughtful connection.
