Good morning, Our BNI Family! 🙌
In BNI, some of the best referral opportunities are already sitting in the room — they just haven’t been unlocked yet. Power Teams are the answer. When complementary professions work together intentionally, referral volume goes up, quality goes up, and trust deepens faster.
🔹 What Makes a Strong Power Team
A Power Team is not just a group of members who like each other. It’s a cluster of professions that serve the same client at different stages of a need.
Think of a homebuyer’s journey: real estate agent, mortgage broker, home inspector, title company, insurance agent, and contractor. Each one serves the same client at a different moment. That’s a natural Power Team.
The strongest Power Teams meet outside chapter, understand each other’s ideal client deeply, and actively create referral triggers for each other. They amplify each other’s credibility by showing up in each other’s introductions consistently.
🔹 How to Build Your Power Team Intentionally
Start by identifying three to five Members whose clients likely overlap with yours. Then schedule a dedicated Power Team 1-to-1 — not a social chat, but a strategic planning conversation.
In that meeting, align on:
- Who is your current ideal client?
- What referral triggers should we listen for?
- How do we introduce each other most effectively?
- What does a great handoff look like?
When everyone on a Power Team is clear on these answers, referrals flow more naturally and close at a higher rate.
🔹 Activate Your Power Team Weekly
Power Teams only produce results when they stay active. A few habits that work:
- Mention a Power Team member by name in your weekly presentation at least once a month.
- Create reciprocal referral language — train each other’s language so it stays fresh.
- Celebrate Power Team wins in the chapter — public recognition reinforces the behavior.
If your Power Team has gone quiet, restart it with one quick message: “Who do you want to meet this month? Let me see if I can connect you.”
🔹 A Quick Reminder / Why This Matters
You don’t have to build your entire referral network from scratch. Power Teams let you multiply your reach through existing trust.
This week, identify one underutilized Power Team partnership and schedule a 20-minute conversation to reactivate it.
The best referral opportunities in BNI are often right next to you. You just have to be intentional enough to unlock them.
