Traditions + Innovation: Leveraging the BNI Connect App

🎤 Education Moment Script (3–5 minutes)

Good morning, BNI Family! 🙌
Today’s Education Moment is all about one of our favorite BNI Core Values — Traditions + Innovation — and how we can use technology to strengthen connections and results through the BNI Connect App.

The BNI Connect App puts the entire world of BNI in your pocket. It’s not just for entering referrals — it’s your visibility tool, connection hub, and engagement tracker. So, today we’re going hands-on together!

Let’s all open the BNI Connect App right now and walk through three powerful features that can make an instant impact on your BNI success.

🔹 Step 1: Update Your Visibility Settings

  1. Open the app and click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top right corner — that’s the large red menu.
  2. Tap Profile → Account Settings.
  3. Turn everything to ALL and YES so you can be found by Members outside our Chapter.
  4. Scroll down and click CONFIRM.

✅ This ensures your business is visible regionally and globally — meaning more referral opportunities for you! This only has to be done once EVER!

🔹 Step 2: Use the New “Apply & Pay” Feature

Now, go back to the large red menu and click Apply & Pay.

📱 That’s where you’ll find your Chapter’s QR Code — it allows visitors to apply directly to our Chapter during or after a meeting.

Encourage every Member to share that QR code with guests. It simplifies the process and makes it easy for people to join Our BNI Family while their excitement is still fresh. You will also see you can click to get the link that can be texted or sent via WhatsApp!

🔹 Step 3: Add Our Newest Member to Your Contacts

Finally, click Search, find our Chapter, and locate our newest Member — [Name].
Let’s add them to our contacts together right now.

  • Tap their name.
  • Under their profile photo, you’ll see three icons — click the middle one with the interconnected circles (share icon).
  • If you’re on Android, text the contact card to yourself and open it to save.
  • If you’re on iPhone (the better platform 😄), simply click Contacts, and it saves automatically.

(Note: If “Contacts” doesn’t appear, open the Contacts app manually once — not your phone contacts — then return to BNI Connect, and it’ll show up.)

💡 Pro tip: Make sure to show these same three features to every new Member you meet with or mentor in the future so they can get connected quickly with Our BNI Family.

We’ll have another Tech Education Moment soon to explore even more of the tools available in BNI Connect — but these three will get us all connected, visible, and ready for more referrals!
