Week 8 (November 18 – November 24, 2024)
Introduction
“Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going to talk about how networking has evolved in our digital age. While face-to-face interactions are key to building strong relationships, the digital world provides us with additional tools to expand our networks and create new opportunities.”
Body
“Networking isn’t limited to the people we meet in person—it now includes how we engage online. Here’s how we can make the most of digital tools while continuing to build strong, personal relationships:
1. Leverage social media – Platforms like LinkedIn allow us to maintain professional connections, share updates, and stay top-of-mind with potential referrals. Be active in engaging with your connections and keep your profile up to date.
2. Use online tools for follow-up – After a One-to-One or networking event, use tools like email or LinkedIn to follow up. A quick message to express thanks or suggest a future collaboration keeps the relationship moving forward.
3. Be consistent across platforms – Whether you’re posting on social media or communicating via email, make sure your message and brand are consistent. This creates a cohesive image that strengthens your professional presence.”
Example
“For example, after meeting someone at a networking event, send them a quick LinkedIn connection request with a personalized message. Something like, ‘It was great meeting you at the BNI event today. I’d love to stay connected and explore ways we can help each other’s businesses grow.’ This simple step keeps the connection alive and opens the door for future referrals.”
Conclusion
“While in-person networking will always be essential, the digital tools at our disposal allow us to expand our reach and strengthen our connections. Let’s make sure we’re leveraging these tools effectively to enhance the relationships we’re building in our Chapter and beyond.”
