Harnessing the Power of Your Weekly Presentation

Week 3 (October 14 – October 20, 2024)

Introduction

“Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going to talk about something we do every week but can always improve—our weekly presentations. These 30-second presentations are more than just routine. They’re powerful tools that can help generate referrals, but only if we know how to make the most of them.”

Body

“Our weekly presentations are a chance to educate our fellow Members about who we are, what we do, and what we need. Here are three ways to make them more effective:

1. Be specific – The more specific you are in your ask, the more likely you are to get the referrals you need. Instead of saying, ‘I’m looking for anyone who needs my services,’ ask for an introduction to a specific person, company, or industry.

2. Show your passion – When you present with enthusiasm and confidence, it leaves a lasting impression. Let your passion for what you do shine through so that Members feel excited to refer you.

3. Tell a story – People remember stories. Share a brief example of how you helped a client or solved a problem. This makes your message more relatable and memorable.”

Example

“Let’s say you’re a financial advisor. Instead of asking for ‘anyone needing financial planning,’ you could say, ‘I’d like an introduction to John Smith, the owner of Smith Construction. I recently helped a similar business owner set up a retirement plan for their employees, and I’d love to do the same for John. You can introduce us via a 3-way text message.’”

Conclusion

“Your weekly presentation is your opportunity to teach the Chapter how to find referrals for you. Be specific, be passionate, and tell a story, and you’ll see better results. Let’s make each presentation count by harnessing the power of our 30 seconds.”
