Building Relationships Through Givers Gain®

Week 20 (February 10 – February 16, 2025)

Introduction

“Good morning, everyone! Today, we’re going to focus on one of the most important principles of BNI—Givers Gain®. This core philosophy is at the heart of what we do, and it’s the foundation for building strong, lasting relationships both within our Chapter and in the business community.”

Body

“Givers Gain® is all about giving to others without the expectation of immediate return. By focusing on helping others, we create an environment where everyone succeeds. Here’s how we can continue to build strong relationships using the Givers Gain® mindset:

1. Be proactive in helping others – Look for ways to give value to your fellow Members. Whether it’s passing referrals, offering advice, or connecting them with potential clients, being proactive in helping others strengthens the trust and bonds within the Chapter.

2. Create a culture of reciprocity – When everyone in the Chapter practices Givers Gain®, we create a culture where helping each other is the norm. This culture leads to more referrals, stronger connections, and long-term success for all.

3. Focus on long-term relationships – Givers Gain® is not about immediate returns. It’s about building relationships that last. When we invest in each other’s success, the rewards will come over time.”

Example

“For example, imagine you refer a client to a fellow Member without expecting anything in return. By helping them succeed, you’re strengthening your relationship with that Member. Down the line, they’re more likely to refer clients to you when the opportunity arises because of the trust and goodwill you’ve built.”

Conclusion

“Building relationships through Givers Gain® is what sets BNI apart. By focusing on helping others and creating a culture of reciprocity, we strengthen our Chapter and build long-term success for everyone involved. Let’s continue practicing Givers Gain® every day and watch our relationships—and referrals—grow.”
